Love in Haight

Wandering around the Haight San Fransisco I came across a real gem of a store, now I'm not saying that when I walked in there I was not creeped the hell out, because I was. It was a curious little shop half flower market half vintage jewellery/ taxidermy. I went in to have a look as I saw some bird skulls in the window and I am fascinated by animals, by anatomy by how beautiful creatures are, be them dead or alive. So yes I wandered into this tiny store to take a look. I was mesmerized. Some things are a bit spooky but the way they are used is so clever, so unusual and unique. I absolutely love this tooth ring. San Fransisco dreaming...

I've just come back from San Fransisico, a place that is absolutely amazing ! For me it has a spookey feeling to it. I guess the beautiful buildings and scenery remind me of some spookey films "Interview with a vampire", "The birds" or "Beetlejuice" and as I went in February the weather was similar to a hazy summers day in London, obviously the air was alot fresher. San Fransisco was so relaxed it just reminded me of being a kid without responibilities. We ate lots of pizza where a slice was as big as a whole pizza at home, tacos and in and out burger. We watched the fat sea lions laze in the sun. Met some of the nicest people, and some of the oddest. Went to cool art shows saw mike Giant and David Choe's work. Hung out with my good friend Holly and her cool friends, collected sand dollars and cherry blossoms and ofcourse saw loads of tiny dogs. I had an amazing time !

I have been looking at alternative mediums to make jewellery recently, how cool is this it's made from tooth picks. It's from www.muniquefashions.com take a look.

Over Christmas I was lucky enough to have a commission for this piece. An eagles skull with very rare 5mm Rubies from Burma set inside the eye sockets. I absolutely love it.

Hallmarking...stamp stamp stamp

I have just had my Christmas orders hallmarked ! I am a huge fan of hallmarking, I think it's amazing that we can find out where things have come from, and who they've been made by and in what year and where. I used to collect old teaspoons to make into spoon rings and I would make the hallmarks a big feature.

So I took a trip to the "Garden" earlier thats Hatton Garden for all those who aren't in the know to get my latest orders hallmarked.

Jessica McCormack

Reading through my latest issue of "Harpers Bazaar" I saw a little section about Jessica McCormack, I saw a piece titled the "Anger necklace" an arrow and beautiful brown feathers. As a lover of mixed media pieces I looked her up. Now I love her work ! She calls her work "mini sculptures" which is exactly the term I use to describe my work. There is so much more to a piece of jewellery, so much depth and work and feeling, that people don't always appreciate. When you buy a piece of jewellery you're not just buying a precious metal, or expensive stones. It's a work of art that been thought out. I mean art is not priced by the cost of the piece of paper its printed on ! Anyway, I am loving her pieces, her blog is cool too, as a person who is more of a thinker than a talker I can identify with her blog which is full of pictures, Why do we need words when if a picture paints a thousand words?

So here she is all polished up, I like her...I like her alot.
